Venus Williams stands up for style

Venus Williams doesn’t regret any fashion choice she’s made on the court, including that show-stopping, racy black-lace corset dress with the flesh-tone undergarments she wore at the French Open in May. “[That dress is] very historical at this point,” she told Page Six. “I would do it the absolute same way. I was trying to do something fun that was still functional.” The tennis champ, who designs her own line of tennis gear, Eleven, explained that fashion choices in the sport are “conservative or conservative.” She said, “There’s times where I’ve designed things and the back is just too low or the fabric was too hot or I’ve altered [a piece] to give it more support.” Nevertheless, “I don’t think I’ve worn anything that was so bad, it’s been like ‘ugh.’ ” For the US Open, Williams designed a traditional white preppy-style, limited-edition dress for Ralph Lauren that she wore during the Legends Clinic at Randalls Island yesterday.
