As Oscar season gathers steam, the Motion Picture Academy announced 15 films on its shortlist for Best Documentary Tuesday. The list is next cut to five in January before the March 2 awards. New York companies were popping champagne. Submarine Entertainment, the downtown producers’ reps, sold a full third of this year’s films on the list to distributors, including movies “20 Feet From Stardom,” “Cutie and the Boxer,” “Blackfish,” “Dirty Wars” and “God Loves Uganda.” Film financier Worldview Entertainment had “The Square” on the list and celebrated at its Gansevoort Park Avenue holiday party Tuesday with industry insiders. Also on the list: “The Armstrong Lie” and “Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer.”
