Retirement from American Ballet Theatre is working out for Irina Dvorovenko.
The Ukrainian ballerina immediately became a Broadway star last summer in the musical “On Your Toes.” Now she’s set to reach an even bigger audience as the star of a Starz cable-TV show about the dance world, “Flesh and Bone.”
Dvorovenko — the only ballerina asked to pose for Playboy (ABT said no) — is signed on for eight episodes of the show, created by “Breaking Bad” producer Moira Walley-Beckett. Filming starts in April.
The ballerina’s proud husband and frequent dancing partner, Maxim Beloserkovsky, told me that Dvorovenko’s “On Your Toes” co-star Christine Baranski became her mentor and urged her to get an agent: “Christine told her, ‘You have so much more to share with the world than just your dancing.’ ”
