Prince William to get Kate Middleton a puppy: report

The box containing Kate Middleton’s Christmas present from husband Prince William this year may have holes punched in it. The Duke of Cambridge is getting the Duchess a dog for the holidays, reports say. And it’s not the first time William has offered Kate a four-legged gift, either.

“Speculation is swirling over what William is going to get Kate for Christmas,” said “Today” reporter Stephanie Gosk yesterday. “The general consensus at this point is that the Duchess of Cambridge is getting a puppy. I hope I haven’t ruined any surprises.”

In 2009, the couple gave each other pups, according to the Daily Mail. Middleton was bestowed with a black cocker spaniel named Otto, who infamously chewed a pair of pearl earrings Prince William gave her for her 28th birthday. Middleton gave William a black lab puppy, to keep his aging dog Widgeon company on walks.

If Middleton’s gift is indeed another pooch, it will join royal Beth, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles’ recently-adopted terrier, and Queen Elizabeth’s reported 10 corgis, in the canine ranks.

Middleton will be spending her first Christmas as a royal at Sandringham manor, Queen Elizabeth’s country estate. “She will quickly learn that this is not like any Christmas she has had,” a source tells Us Weekly.

Middleton’s sister Pippa will arrive at the manor on Boxing Day, the day after Christmas, the source elaborates. Kate, Pippa and William will then visit the rest of the Middleton clan at their family home in Bucklebury.
