Spa owner and former Bravo star Cindy Barshop avoided a hairy court drama when a discrimination case against her was dropped this month. Former Completely Bare Spa employee Altovise Collier filed a complaint with New York’s Division of Human Rights accusing Barshop of firing her because she was black. Collier claimed she was given only partial information during employee training, which led her to inadequately perform procedures leading to customer complaints. Collier also claimed other employees joked that she was hired to “inject some color” into the spa. When Collier told Barshop of the alleged treatment, she says she was fired. But the HRC said in its decision to toss the case that evidence failed to show Collier was fired because of her race, and pointed out that several Caucasian and Latino employees were axed in the same period. Barshop said, “I’m so happy that the truth has come out. I’ve never looked at people based on race, religion, creed, or color. I see people for who they are.”
