John Legend is engaged to Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Chrissy Teigen, it has been confirmed.
Legend’s rep revealed to E! News today that the crooner had popped the question to Teigen while on vacation in the Maldives over the holidays. The two have been dating since 2007.
“Ha! @chrissyteigen he went to Jared,” Legend tweeted this afternoon, referencing the commercials for Jared Galleria of Jewelry, which specializes in engagement rings. “Thanks for all the well wishes everybody.”
Earlier this year, Teigen talked to the Huffington Post about her relationship with Legend, saying it was hard to have a boyfriend who women were constantly throwing themselves at.
“In John’s ‘Green Light’ music video, I might have had a mental breakdown,” Teigen divulged. “But now I’ve calmed down a lot. It was hard at first and then you really get pep talks and you are just like this is how it’s going to be.”
To get him back, Teigen says that she subjects him to wedding-themed reality television.
“I watch all that bride crap and that really angers him,” she said.
Apparently, the shows finally made an impression.
