Jill Zarin survived a three-hour power outage at Marriott’s Aruba Surf Club on Christmas Day thanks to the light of her menorah, she says. The former star of “The Real Housewives of New York City” said she put the symbolic candelabrum she packed for Hanukkah to emergency use by lighting the candles in her grandchildren’s bedroom because they were afraid of the dark when the lights at the island resort went out. Never one to shy away from a plug, Zarin said the juice went off just as her name was being announced as a guest judge on “Top Chef.” “I couldn’t even watch myself on ‘Top Chef,’ ” she told us. “My Hanukkah menorah saved me.” Zarin added, “I have the craziest stories. It’s unfortunate that the cameras don’t follow me anymore.”
