While Katy Perry and Russell Brand have strongly denied rumors of discord in their marriage, the fact that they spent the holidays 7,000 apart does not seem to bode well for the couple.
While Perry spent the weekend splashing in the Hawaiian waves with friends, and without her wedding ring, Brand made a Christmas day appearance at a pub in Cornwall, England, before joining in a friend’s charity swim.

Us Weekly reports that the pair was scheduled to spend the holidays in London with Brand’s family, but that a tiff led to the couple spending Christmas apart.
“They had a massive fight,” a source told the magazine. “She was like, ‘[Bleep] you.’ I’m going to do my own thing.’ Russell replied, ‘Fine. [Bleep] you too.'”
The source clarifies, however, that this is not the end for the two.
“They haven’t split up just yet, but things are not good,” the source says. “But they are both so dramatic and volatile, the relationship could become great again.”
Meanwhile, People reports that while the couple may not have been together on Christmas proper, Brand was with Perry in Hawaii in the days leading up to the holiday.
“Katy and Russell looked very happy when they stepped off their private plane in Kauai before Christmas weekend,” a source told the magazine.
Early this month, Perry and Brand laughed off reports that they were on the rocks.
Perry tweeted, “First I’m pregnant & then I’m divorced. What am I All My Children?!”
A few days later, Brand spoke on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” about the rumors plaguing the pair.
“I’ve treated the whole Internet now as a wicked little liar. I am really happily married,” he said. “I’m married to Katy. Perpetually, until death do us part was the pledge. I’m still alive.”
But the couple has been fighting off rumors since the summer. In July, Perry tweeted, “Just cause we don’t flaunt our relationship doesn’t mean there’s something wrong w/it. Privacy is our luxury.”
Brand added, “‘You tell em Mrs Brand!”
Perry and Russell married in October of 2010, in a lavish ceremony in India. The two first got together in September 2009 and announced their engagement that December.
