Rahm Emanuel was a surprise guest backstage at Sandra Bernhard’s gig at the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art when she recently brought a preview of her Joe’s Pub New Year’s show to the Windy City for a test run.
Spies said the Chicago mayor appeared to tell the comic in person he had never seen her perform live before, but that he was “her new biggest fan.”
Always upfront, Bernhard asked him how the Obamas were doing. A spy said Emanuel — whose brother Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel has been described as an architect of Obamacare — replied, “Just fine.” The comedian was later overheard saying that Rahm was, “lovely and charismatic.”
She’s playing Joe’s Pub Dec. 26 to 31.
