The producers of the American Comedy Awards — attended by Bill Cosby, Amy Poehler, Johnny Knoxville and Seth Rogen — made a quick adjustment Saturday after discovering the trophies weighed a whopping 15 pounds.
We’re told the team was scrambling until an hour before showtime at Hammerstein Ballroom to get the prizes down to a manageable weight, eventually having the scenic designers saw them in half to remove a heavy marble base.
A source close to the show tells us they used the “doctored” awards for the event, but that winners will be sent newly made trophies.
The winners will be unveiled when the show airs on NBC on May 8.
