Al Pacino admits he’s been in therapy all of his life in an interview with Smithsonian magazine’s September issue. But acting still also helps him discover new things about himself. He tells the magazine what he learned of his father’s influence on his role as salesman in the Broadway reboot of “Glengarry Glen Ross.” “It’s the first time in many, many years I learned something,” Pacino said. “I was trying to channel this character and . . . I felt as though he was a dancer. So sometimes I’d start dancing. But then I realized — guess what, I just realized this today! — my father was a dancer and he was a salesman. So I was channeling my old man.” Pacino’s long gestating passion project “Wild Salomé,” a film he’s directed for six years and stars a young Jessica Chastain, is due to be released in October.
