Jay Z accused of ‘unprofessional conduct’

Jay Z is being accused of complicating legal proceedings stemming from a $7 million lawsuit filed in July 2012.

Dwayne Walker, a former business associate of the hip hop mogul, is suing the “Magna Carta … Holy Grail” rapper over claims Hov failed to pay him $7 million in royalties after Walker designed the Roc-A-Fella Records logo in 1995.

According to Walker’s attorney, Gregory Berry, Walker alleges that upon meeting Jay Z, his then-business partner, Damon Dash, and Kareem Burke 19 years ago, he negotiated with the trio to create a logo and license it to them in return for $3,500 and 2 percent of revenues for 10 years after the first year of use.

After creating the logo, Walker says he was paid $3,500 but claims he never received royalties (Walker still owns the copyright on the logo).

With the case in litigation for nearly two years, Radar Online has obtained court documents (filed April 24) in which Berry accuses Jay Z of “unprofessional conduct.”

The documents also allege Jay Z’s legal team has intended to “mislead, harass, and needlessly increase the cost of litigation,” is “unwilling to cooperate in producing a joint report” and that the rapper “refuses to discuss the possibility of promptly setting or resolving the case.”

But Jay Z’s attorney claims “they have considered Walker’s prior settlement offer” but feel “there is NOT a possibility for promptly settling or resolving the case.”
