John Galliano’s new gigs: film, theater and tutoring college kids

Recovering designer John Galliano is still negotiating with Oscar de la Renta about his future — but sources exclusively tell Page Six he may first make a comeback in the movies and theater.

Fired from Dior in 2011 after his infamous anti-Semitic rant, and more recently dropped from a Parsons the New School for Design teaching gig, Galliano’s also been mentoring four British fashion college students and, according to a source, “is having a blast taking them to flea markets and museums all around Paris. He is very energized and inspired from teaching.”

The source continued, “John is still talking to Oscar about the future, but nothing has been decided. He has also been offered some work designing for films and theater.”

Out of rehab and sober, he has been getting support from some powerful fashion insiders including Condé Nast’s Jonathan Newhouse and Anna Wintour, who helped negotiate the move that saw de la Renta invite Galliano into his studio in January to work on a collection, which was met with positive reviews.

It’s no secret that de la Renta, 81, wants a succession plan at his company. But there is still some way to go for Galliano, who had been talking to Parsons about leading a program and class discussion — until the idea was dropped after a volley of complaints.

A spokeswoman for the designer declined to comment last night.
