Purple magazine’s party at Chez André at the Standard East Village almost came to a premature end when the music abruptly cut off at 2 a.m. on Tuesday.
“There were people dancing by the DJ booth, and something must have gotten unplugged because, all of a sudden, it just stopped working,” says a spy.
“At least nine different people rushed back there to jiggle wires, plug in different things, and lift up equipment. They had their iPhone flashlights out and even asked a random onlooker for some light. It was total panic.”
After 10 minutes of fidgeting with equipment, DJ Mia Moretti, who had rushed to help, figured out the problem and got the rager back on track.
Olivier Theyskens, Johan Lindeberg and model Crystal Renn were spotted dancing while Paris and Nicky Hilton posted up in a back booth. Also there were André Saraiva, Glenn O’Brien and Mario Sorrenti. E-cig spokesman Stephen Dorff, who has admitted he still occasionally smokes, was spotted puffing the real thing.
