Danny DeVito doesn’t star in the Off-Broadway show “Hand to God,” but he saved a performance over the weekend.
Spies said that during the show’ first act on Sunday, “a rowdy audience member at the back of the house let out loud yells during key comic and dramatic moments in the show” about students at a Christian puppet ministry in Texas.
The spy said that at intermission, DeVito, who was also seated in the crowd, “approached the [loud] audience member to delicately tell her that she wasn’t watching TV — this is the theater, and that the actors could hear her.”
After the talk from the “Taxi” star, the woman piped down during act two, relieved spies said.
