Charlize Theron’s production company has optioned rights to the best-selling memoir by New York Post writer Susannah Cahalan — “Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness” — to turn it into a film starring Dakota Fanning.

The Simon & Schuster book is currently No. 5 on the New York Times’ paperback nonfiction list after first being published in 2012.

It follows the author’s true story of waking up in a hospital with no memory of the events of the previous month, and piecing together the medical mystery that landed her there.
