Miranda Kerr offends moms, poses in sultry video

Model Miranda Kerr has sparked heated debate on parenting blogs after saying epidurals make babies “drugged up,” in the August issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK.

The Victoria’s Secret cat-walker — and mother of Orlando Bloom’s baby Flynn, 1 — says she made the decision to have a natural birth without any pain medication after watching baby-bonding videos.

According to ABC News, Kerr noticed in the vids that babies born to mothers who did not have epidurals “come out and go straight for the mother’s breast.” But, that, “[The video] showed ones [babies] right after the epidural, and that didn’t happen. The baby was a little bit drugged up, and I was like, ‘Well I don’t want that.’ I wanted to give him the best possible start in life I could.”

The comments sparked debate on mommy blogs, ABC says. A commenter on Cafe Mom’s The Stir blog wrote, “Being a supermodel doesn’t make you an expert,” and that sexy Kerr should, “choose her words more wisely.”

Others are backing Kerr’s opinions, with one blog posting, “The babies are drugged up when you receive an epidural … do your research.”

Kerr, 29, gave birth to Flynn in January of last year.

Fellow model Gisele Bundchen caused a similar flap when she reportedly declared there should be a “worldwide law” requiring new mothers to breastfeed for six months after they give birth.

Meanwhile, Bazaar UK also posted a sexy behind-the-scenes video of new mom Kerr at a New Jersey estate.
