Valuable Zapata painting vandalized

A Valuable painting by Spanish- born abstract artist Domingo Zapata has been vandalized by a partygoer at the Dream Downtown Hotel. The artwork, called “Avion — Life Is a Dream” and worth an estimated $500,000, was damaged when a fedora-wearing guest scribbled all over it in pink letters at about 2:30 a.m. yesterday. We’re told police were called, and the hotel is filing a report after catching the vandal on CCTV. A source told us, “The painting was hanging in the hotel. It was vandalized in 10 seconds while security was distracted.” Zapata, who has been asked to paint over the scribblings, said last night, “Things like this happen and its no big deal, I’m going to make an even bigger piece to replace it.”
