Tom and Katie’s marriage ‘doomed six months before split’

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ marriage was doomed six months prior to their separation, according to a new report.

While their split this summer came as a shock to the world, documents obtained by the National Enquirer show their marriage had “broken down irretrievably for a period of at least six months immediately preceding.”

The legal papers, dated August 17, 2012 and signed by New York State Supreme Court Judge Matthew F. Cooper, also details their custody agreement over their six-year-old daughter Suri.

The Mission Impossible star wed Holmes in Italy in November 2006. But legal documents state that they officially wed during a civil ceremony in Los Angeles that same month.

Holmes, 33, who had signed a prenuptial agreement months before their wedding, filed for divorce from Cruise, 50, in June.

Just weeks later the divorce was settled and Cruise was reportedly ordered to pay $400,000 a year to cover Suri’s ‘medical, dental, insurance, unreimbursed medical and dental, education, college, extracurricular and camp expenses’ until she turns 18.

Holmes has moved to New York City where she has enrolled Suri in school.
