Newark Mayor Cory Booker took a break from his Hurricane Sandy relief efforts to fly to Atlanta for Thanksgiving. Holiday travelers spotted Booker, who went as far as to invite displaced victims to his own home in Newark to stay during the storm, boarding a Delta flight to Atlanta yesterday morning at Newark International Airport. “He waited in line to board with everyone else, chatting with people even though he was told he could pre-board,” said one passenger. “Everyone was glad-handing him as they boarded the plane.” Booker has agreed on Twitter “to live on food stamps” for a week after Thanksgiving, to raise awareness about government-assisted food programs.
