Karlie Kloss dips a toe into art

Supermodel Karlie Kloss is getting into the art market. Kloss bid $6,400 on the painting “Color Panels, 2012” by Ellsworth Kelly during the Independent Curators International event Monday at Prince George Ballroom. “This is my very first silent auction, and I kind of got caught up in the excitement and put my name down,” she told us. “I just got outbid, and I was like, ‘Phew, OK.’ I was a little relieved.” She added of the event, which raised funds for ICI and Sandy victims, “You get a beautiful piece of art and do a little good.” Kloss, who just bought a place in the West Village, recently accompanied photographer Patrick Demarchelier to Christie’s as he sold a Jean- Michel Basquiat for a record $26.4 million. “He was telling me how I have to get into it and invest in art, but the most important thing is that you really love it,” she told us. “I think the important thing is to learn . . . so right now I’m just sort of studying old catalogs. I feel like I am doing my homework. I haven’t yet fallen in love with anything, but when I do I’ll be ready.”
