Connor Cruise film sees light of day

How times have changed. “Red Dawn” — the ensemble action film featuring Tom Cruise’s son Connor, which went into production in 2009— has finally seen the light of day after being derailed by MGM’s financial woes. But the movie may have improved with age, on paper at least, because its cast — including Chris Hemsworth from “The Avengers” and Josh Hutcherson of “The Hunger Games” — has only gotten hotter since they shot the remake. But the movie also harks back to the days when Cruise and his producing partner Paula Wagner headed up MGM’s United Artists banner, which stalled right around the time MGM announced Connor and company were cast in the movie. Wagner’s gone on to produce this season’s Broadway shows “The Heiress” and “Grace.” Connor has become a successful DJ.
