Jamie Foxx thought friends stood him up for his birthday celebration when he arrived at Mr. Chow Thursday night. Following an appearance on “The Late Show With David Letterman,” he went to the restaurant with a pal, but no one was there. The friend then told him he needed to pick someone up at a bowling alley, and Foxx dejectedly went along. But instead they wound up at the General, a Lower East Side restaurant set to open in January, where, to Foxx’s surprise, 25 friends and relatives were waiting. Turns out the star’s pals and daughter Corinne Bishop had been planning a surprise party for his 45th birthday, and jazz pianist Eric Lewis, a k a ELEW, led the group in singing “Happy Birthday.”
