Jerry Bruckheimer gets the write stuff

Jerry Bruckheimer has a silent but direct way of getting opinions across to screenwriters, according to Scott Rosenberg, who’s penned “Gone in 60 Seconds” and “Con Air” for the Hollywood producer. “I love Jerry Bruckheimer,” recalls Rosenberg. “If you disagree with him, he’s perfected this thing with his eyes. He sort of leads his eyes to the left, which forces your gaze to follow, and right there [in his office] is this hall of fame — ‘Top Gun,’ ‘Flashdance,’ ‘Bad Boys,’ ‘Armageddon.’ And you go, ‘OK, I’ll shut the f up now.’ ” Rosenberg recounted the tale at Tropfest’s Roughcut symposium at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center on a panel that included Liev Schreiber and Malcolm Gladwell.
