Bill Clinton awarded ‘Father of the Year’

Bill Clinton’s “Father of the Year” award was sealed with a Text From Hillary.

The former president was honored by the National Father’s Day Committee at a Save the Children benefit on Tuesday and he joked that his wife sent him a brief congratulatory message.

“I [received] a text message from Hillary [Clinton] saying, ‘Congratulations. I think you deserve this,’” Parade magazine quoted him as saying. “In our family, that’s a very big deal.”

Bubba was presented with the award by his daughter, Chelsea. “Every day he’s my dad, and I don’t need an award to tell me he’s the best that I ever could have hoped for,” she reportedly said. “But I’m grateful he’s getting the recognition that I, of course, his unapologetically-biased daughter, think he’s always deserved.”

The 33-year-old former First Kid gushed that her father had “set the bar very high” for her husband, Marc Mezvinsky, “as Marc and I think about having our own children.”

The 66-year-old father also had kind words for his daughter, sharing how her birth was the greatest thing to happen to him.

“I saw Chelsea come out, and it changed the hospital’s policy on letting fathers into the delivery room when surgery was required.” (The hospital originally did not allow fathers to be present during deliveries via Cesarean section) “And from that day to this, I have believed without the shadow of a doubt that it was the greatest thing that ever happened to me.”
