Mike Tyson pays seniors in Jersey City a surprise visit

After dancing at the Tonys, Mike Tyson visited a group of senior citizens. In a further sign the former heavyweight champ and ardent pigeon fancier’s dropping his hardman image, Tyson spontaneously agreed to visit elderly folks at Joseph Connors Senior Center in Jersey City. Steven Fulop, the town’s mayor-elect, said one of his volunteers had gone to local diner White Mana to pick up burgers for the seniors, when Tyson, a friend of owner Mario Costa Jr
., appeared. Fulop said, “My volunteer told Mike that we were having this campaign stop with seniors and did he want to go. He said yes, which of course I thought was BS. Then, 15 minutes later he rolled in there by himself and hung out for a while.” He added, “People were excited. He was very nice. He signed things and took a ton of pictures. He said he really loves seniors.” Gina Martinelli, director of the center, told Page Six, “It was a total surprise. Somebody was bringing burgers from White Mana for lunch to do something nice for the seniors and Mike happened to be there, and he said ‘I’ll go and visit them.’ He walked around talking to all the people at the center. If they wanted a picture or an autograph, he obliged. I am a big boxing fan so I was ecstatic.”
