Falcone quest: Where on earth is Lisa Maria?

While embattled hedge fund manager Phil Falcone hammers out a landmark settlement with the SEC, his flamboyant wife, Lisa Maria Falcone, has seemingly disappeared from New York society. Lisa, known equally for her expensive, eye-catching and somewhat exposing outfits at social events, as well as for storming the stage at the 2009 High Line Gala to spontaneously announce she and Phil would give $10 million to overshadow Barry Diller’s $10 million pledge, has barely been seen in public since the Met Gala in May. Lisa is on the board of the New York City Ballet, but sources tell us she hasn’t shown up for any meetings or returned any correspondence about their glamorous fall gala on Sept. 19, sparking wild rumors about her whereabouts. One source — who speculated that she must have had to curb her famously wild spending on designer clothes now that Phil is being fined and banned from the finance industry for five years — said, “Lisa seems to have dropped out of society.” But another source close to Lisa insists, “She and Phil are still very much together. She has been keeping a lower profile, attending few events, and concentrating on her filmmaking and her family.” Phil also denied their marriage was in trouble, saying rumors they had separated were “not remotely true.” Meanwhile, Lisa’s filmmaking career has been an immediate success. She’s a producer on Jeff Nichols’ “Mud,” which made $21.6 million, the highest-grossing indie movie in the first half of this year. It has also been getting Supporting Actor-awards buzz for star Matthew McConaughey.
