LOS ANGELES — Lindsay Lohan was released from the hospital and headed back to work after a car accident Friday, her rep said in a statement.

The actress’ black Porsche, which was a rental, was reportedly totaled after it rear-ended an 18-wheeler on the Pacific Coast Highway in Los Angeles as she was on her way to a film shoot.

Her publicist said, “Lindsay was involved in an automobile accident today on her way to the set. She was brought to Santa Monica UCLA hospital as a precaution. She is fine and was released less than two hours later and is already headed back to the set to resume work. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the accident.”

Police told the Los Angeles Times that Lohan did not appear to be intoxicated and was not cited by officers before heading to the hospital.

Eyewitnesses had told entertainment website TMZ that Lohan and her assistant, who was a passenger, appeared bloodied and bruised after the crash.

Photos from the scene showed the passenger-side window was shattered and the bumper on the luxury sports car was crumpled.

Sources say Lohan is claiming that she is not to blame for the accident, saying she was cut off by the 18-wheeler.

The 25-year-old was not transported to the hospital in an ambulance. Her assistant, who was taken to the hospital via ambulance, suffered minor injuries including bruises and “some bleeding,” Hollyscoop.com reported.
