Cher calls Miley Cyrus VMA performance ‘so bad’

Cher is not a fan of Miley Cyrus’ twerk-fueled performance during the MTV VMAs. “[It] was so bad,” the legendary diva told USA Today in an interview.

The 67-year-old singer/actress, who herself is no stranger to controversy, told the newspaper that she wasn’t shocked or offended by Cyrus’ twerk-and-jerk with Robin Thicke during the VMAs, but rather the lack of talent it took to do so.

“I’m not old-fashioned,” Cher said. “She could have come out naked, and if she’d just rocked the house, I would have said, ‘You go, girl.’ It just wasn’t done well. She can’t dance, her body looked like hell, the song wasn’t great, one cheek was hanging out. And, chick, don’t stick out your tongue if it’s coated.”

The scathing remarks come from a woman who suffered her own backlash to the video for her 1989 hit, “If I Could Turn Back Time.”

The video — featuring Cher dancing around the USS Missouri in a one-piece fishnet stocking over a V-shaped bathing suit that appeared to be no more than masking tape covering her lady parts — was at one point banned by MTV. The cable music channel eventually aired the video, but only after 9 PM.

Cher is about to embark on a tour for her latest album, “Closer to the Truth,” her first album since 2002.
