City Council Speaker Christine Quinn declined a duet with actor Joel Grey at the Studio in a School Gala honoring Jeff Koons and Tom Cahill. Grey, who emceed the recent evening, asked Quinn for a song, but the pol revealed she’d been kicked out of choir in the eighth grade, spurring laughter from guests including Vera Wang, Dennis Basso, Marjorie Gubelmann, Anne Bass, Matt Nye, Jann Wenner and event designer Bronson Van Wyck. But when Grey asked event co-chair Samantha Boardman, she took him up on the request and gave a pitch-perfect rendition of the final verse of “So Long, Farewell” from ‘The Sound of Music,” bringing the house down.
