Prince Harry’s naked romp spurs $23 million Vegas tourism boost

Prince Harry’s infamous “strip billiards” pics might have been a royal embarrassment for the Royal Palace, but Las Vegas tourism officials are laughing all the way to the bank after his photos helped bring $23 million to Sin City.

According a report commissioned by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (via the Las Vegas Sun), a cheeky tourism board ad campaign condemning the leaked photos reached an estimated 154 million people on print and online.

A report from Vegas Inc. also claims the ad doubled searches for local resorts on hotels.com and the invention of a new $25 hamburger called “The Exposed Prince” at a local restaurant.

The campaign came out just days after photos of Harry’s game of “strip billiards” were published on TMZ.

At a Tuesday meeting, LVCVA Board Chairman Tom Collins said, “God bless Prince Harry. He made us a bunch of money.”

Tourism authority spokeswoman Courtney Fitzgerald says the agency can’t track how much of the attention translated into actual Las Vegas visits.
