The ladies of Miss Subways — New York’s mass-transit beauty contest of days gone by that ended in the 1970s — are reuniting to benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy. The bash, which will coincide with a Transit Museum exhibition and photo book called “Meet Miss Subways: New York’s Beauty Queens 1941-76,” will be held Tuesday at old-timey Ellen’s Stardust Diner. Ellen Hart, a k a Miss Subways 1959, owns the Times Square area eatery, which will match any donations at the benefit to buy MetroCards for storm survivors. The singing waitstaff at the Stardust will provide entertainment. Hart’s historic collection of original Miss Subways posters was an inspiration for photographer Fiona Gardner’s book.
