Swizz Beatz slapped with staggering $2.6M tax bill: reports

Swizz Beatz, music producer and husband of Alicia Keys, has some serious tax problems.

In a new report from TMZ, the state of New York recently filed a lien against Beatz for unpaid taxes in the year 2010, claiming he still owes $98,246.18.

Beatz, real name Kasseem Dean, already has several federal tax liens against him. In June 2010, Page Six dug up public records indicating that Beatz was slapped with an IRS lien of $652,727 for unpaid 2008 income tax.

He’s had a string of liens filed against him and his former wife, Mashonda, in New York, Georgia and California. His debts stood then at about $2.2 million and have now reportedly ballooned to a staggering $2.6 million.

A lawyer for Beatz said in 2010, “We have been discussing the issue with the government for years and are currently negotiating an amicable resolution of the dispute.”

Despite the perceived money woes, Beatz landed at No. 16 on Forbes’ annual Hip-Hop Cash Kings Top 20 list last September, raking in a cool $7 million. He and his superstar wife also purchased a 10-room mansion, that was once owned by comedian Eddie Murphy. The prolific producer has worked with Jay-Z, Chris Brown, Dr. Dre, Kanye West and many other major names in the music business.
