Lindsay Lohan to be charged with lying to cops, may face jail: report

Lindsay Lohan’s dealing with a new batch of legal troubles.

According to TMZ, the troubled starlet will face criminal charges for lying to police officers following her car accident in June on the Pacific Coast Highway.

The “Liz and Dick” actress is alleged to have lied to the police about not being behind the wheel of her Porsche when it slammed into the back of an 18-wheeler. However, several witnesses have told the gossip site that Lohan was indeed driving the car.

TMZ’s police sources have said that the case will be filed as a misdemeanor charge by the Santa Monica City Attorney later this week.

With Lohan currently on probation over a jewelry theft in 2011, a criminal filing could trigger a probation violation and Judge Stephanie Sautner could reportedly send Lohan to jail with no conviction in the new case needed.

According to TMZ’s report, police also found pills in Lohan’s purse after the car crash and were prepared to charge Lohan with drug crimes but her lawyer, Shawn Holley, argued that they were legally prescribed by a doctor so the cops backed off.

Lohan was arrested in September for leaving the scene of an accident after allegedly bumping into “victim” Jose Rodriguez with her car outside the Dream Downtown Hotel. It was confirmed that she will not be charged over that incident.
