Katherine Heigl brought it on herself.

The notoriously difficult starlet opened a can of worms when she tried to shut down a tweeted image of her recent visit to a Manhattan Duane Reade — only to garner more dislike by filing a lawsuit for $6 million that exposed the image even more. This silly suit ironically brings her more unwanted attention than the original “advertisement” ever would, leading some cynics to suggest these celebs might want to court more publicity by taking these companies to court.

Here’s a look at the most ridiculous and merit-less lawsuits from celeb plaintiffs:

Lindsay Lohan vs. E*Trade — and a baby

Despite clocking countless courtroom hours, Lohan seems to be a sucker for punishment. In 2010, she filed a $100 million suit against the internet dynamo for suggesting an image of a cute baby named Lindsay — a “milkaholic — soiled the starlet’s squeaky clean image.

50 Cent vs. Taco Bell

The rapper’s beef with the fast food chain stemmed from an ad campaign.Startraks; AP

When most are angry at Taco Bell, it’s for digestive woes. But in 2008, Teflon-tough rapper, 50 Cent, got litigious over a Taco Bell “Why Pay More?” ad campaign suggesting a name change to 79 Cent, 89 Cent or 99 Cent — a nod to the chain’s unbeatable values. The reluctant pitchman who could take a bullet — or nine — apparently couldn’t take a joke.

Mariah Carey vs. Mary Carey

It was close but no cigar for adult entertainment figure Mary Carey, who tried to trademark her name. Too close for comfort for diva Mariah Carey, who sued the porn star in 2006. The “real” Carey still likes to pretend she’s not one disastrous career decision away — hello, “Glitter”— from the adult entertainment industry herself.

Kim Kardashian vs. Old Navy

Kim Kardashian sued the retailer in 2011 when it used an image of a Kardashian look-alike in its ads. Guess Kanye’s fiancée would rather be known for her crimes of fashion than scoring big savings on khakis.

Prince vs. fans

Prince may have lost some fans after suing over a video posted on Facebook.AP

When you’re armed with an army of high-priced lawyers on retainer, why not sue your most dedicated fans for a crime of passion? When the superstar’s fans posted a 1983 video of a concert to their Facebook page, he tried to sue for $22M early in 2014. If his motivation was to destroy any evidence of crushed velvet purple boleros, that’s one thing — but don’t stifle a fan’s enthusiasm for his raspberry beret. He must have been “Delirious.”
