“Glee” creator Ryan Murphy is in New York scouting locations for his highly anticipated film adaptation of Larry Kramer’s Tony-winning “The Normal Heart.” But, Murphy said, keeping settings authentic is a challenge. “We’ve been to all the historical places,” he told us of the ’80s-set story about the HIV/AIDS epidemic. “A lot of them just aren’t there anymore.” The film starring Julia Roberts, Mark Ruffalo and Matt Bomer
begins shooting in June after a long road, including decades with Barbra Streisand as a potential director and, “every actor of their day” cast — from Richard Dreyfuss to Annette Bening. “Larry’s a survivor, and he’s fought for 25 years to get this movie made,” Murphy said, with his producer Jason Blum. “He never gave up. And HBO was the only place in town who could have made this movie.” He’ll film from June to July then break to allow his actors to lose weight, including muscle-bound Bomer who will dramatically drop 35 pounds for his role.
