Olivia Wilde and America Ferrera helped celebrate the launch of a new Facebook app last night, “Half the Sky Movement: The Game.”

The game aims to raise funds and awareness to the challenges that women and girls face worldwide, such as trafficking and maternal mortality.

At the Meatpacking hotspot No. 8, Wilde gave opening remarks and introduced Pulitzer Prize-winning authors and Half the Sky Movement creators Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn to the audience.

The actress shared how she became inspired to join Kristof and WuDunn in their mission after reading their bestseller, “Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide.” Wilde traveled to Kenya with Kristof to visit the Umoja Women’s Village in 2012 for a “Half the Sky” PBS broadcast.

America Ferrera, another key supporter of the Half the Sky Movement, was one of the last guests to leave the event. Ferrera was also featured in the PBS broadcast, traveling to India with Kristof to visit Urmi Basu and the New Light shelter.
