Guess which blockbuster won’t be holding up very many Golden Popcorn trophies this year?
“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2” received one paltry nomination for the 2013 MTV Movie Awards. Taylor Lautner and his (albeit impressive) pecs got a lone nod for Best Shirtless Performance.
The other four films of the franchise had impressive runs, as Twihards religiously casted their votes for the saga’s many wins at previous MTV ceremonies.
As EW.com noted, the vampire flicks starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson took home a total of 16 trophies after receiving 23 nominations combined, including a win every year for Best Kiss and Best Movie.
So what’s with the “Part 2” snub? Well, the fifth and final “Twilight” flick hasn’t had the best awards season…unless you count this year’s Razzies. It “won” seven big awards including Worst Film, Worst Ensemble Cast, Worst Director (Bill Condon), Worst Actress (Stewart).
Bean counters, however, are the last one laughing; “Part 2” has a staggering worldwide gross of $701.4 million.
“Django Unchained,” “Ted” and “Silver Linings Playbook” lead the pack at the annual MTV awards show.
Much-loved Jennifer Lawrence – now an Oscar winner – received five nods altogether, including “Best Scared-As-S—t” Performance for the horror flick “House at the End of the Street.”
