Russell Crowe believes he captured footage of an Unidentified Flying Object. Really.

The Aussie actor tweeted a link to his YouTube video of a “UFO” sighting and wrote in shock, “UFO? Time Lapse Photos Outside RC’s Woolloomooloo Office (THESE ARE REAL!)”

The Telegraph reports that the Oscar Winner set up a camera to film fruit bats outside his office in the epically named Sydney suburb, Woolloomooloo.

The quick clip (watch below) is comprised of unedited time-lapse photos stitched together. Crowe happened to capture a red rectangle that streaked across the sky. Instead of thinking it was the fault of his camera or some weird lighting, he went ahead and assumed it was aliens.

His Twitter followers responded with skepticism and amassment, one suggested the streak came from a cars’ tail light, another posted a jokey pic of a bat with lightsabers, which Crowe retweeted.

Nonetheless, Crowe seems pretty convinced, as he later tweeted: “Canon 5D, No Flash, can’t be a lense flare because it moves , camera is fixed”

Right, that explains everything.
