In Brooklyn, Borough President Marty Markowitz went the humorous route, with a colorful holiday card that took its theme from the 125th birthday of the Brooklyn Bridge. It shows him and his wife, Jamie, at a celebration by the bridge with reindeer flying overhead, a Christmas wreath and menorah on the span, fireworks and "dreidel works." To be sung to the tune of "Jingle Bells," the lyrics printed inside include: "So . . . Mazel Tov, bridge we love/Brooklyn has arrived./One, one, two's the zip that's hip/And you're one-twenty-five!

If you like Santa with shtick, head to Jackie Mason's video blog, where the comic sings the lyrics of his Christmas/Hanukkah card while sitting in an animated sleigh, driving reindeer high in the sky. "Have yourself a merry little Christmas," he croons. "Happy Hanukkah in case you don't know you're Jewish, too. On the other hand, if you happen to be a gentile, happy and good luck to you. Merry Christmas, too."

Comedian Paul Reubens, a k a Pee-wee Herman, went for a homey, hokey touch reminiscent of his kitschy former TV show. Wearing a peace sign around his neck, with his eyes closed in a meditative pose by a boombox, he's sitting on the floor in a room with a woman apparently watching TV. There's a picture of President-elect Barack Obama and his family hanging on the wall behind them.
