Another reason to ditch cell

Vamity Fair’s Matt Ullian, the man tasked with helping Graydon Carter plan his storied Oscar party, has a warning: Be careful when you’re walking and talking on your cell. Ullian, deputy director of special projects at the mag, was in Chelsea on Monday evening when several young thugs fractured his collarbone and knocked him unconscious before stealing his phone. “I was walking my bulldog Frankie — she’s not much of a guard dog — and 100 percent distracted because I was talking on my phone. I was an easy target,” Ullian tells Page Six. “I don’t want to be an alarmist, but I want everyone to know that this could happen to them. People need to be alert and aware. Don’t talk on your phone, don’t text, don’t e-mail.” Ullian, who is gay, filed a police report, but isn’t convinced it was a hate crime, he said. “I guess one could speculate some hatred in beating someone just for a phone.”
