Anderson Cooper may have pushed too hard for his side of the story when covering the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The Presidential Oil Spill Commission’s final report says he “reportedly asked a parish president [local official] to bring an angry, unemployed offshore oil worker on his show. When the [official] could not promise the worker would be ‘angry,’ both were disinvited.” Cooper’s rep angrily responds, “This unattributed statement is completely false . . . [the claim] that it was journalists who were encouraging residents and state and local leaders to ‘display their anger at the federal response’ is offensive.”
