Katy Perry calls out Microsoft for lack of open bar at concert

Katy Perry called out Microsoft for not dishing out free drinks to fans at her Candy Land-themed concert at the Roseland Ballroom Monday night. The software giant and AT&T sponsored the Perry show in New York and a performance by Maroon 5 in San Francisco to launch its new Windows Phone 7. The newly married singer asked those in the Roseland audience if they were enjoying the free drinks — but the crowd responded with grumbles since there was no open bar. According to concertgoers, Perry replied, “It’s Microsoft! Don’t they own half the world?!” The pop singer, who last weekend won an MTV Europe Music Award for best video for “California Gurls,” went on to perform hits including “Teenage Dream,” “Ur So Gay” and “Last Friday Night,” to which a slideshow of Perry and her pals going crazy on a Friday night played in the background.
