You’ve probably never heard of her, but Rebecca Da Costa could be the new Penelope Cruz, Salma Hayek and Jessica Alba all rolled into one.
The Brazilian beauty, a former model, stars with John Cusack and Robert De Niro in “The Bag Man,” a noirish thriller opening Friday.
Da Costa, who visited my office Monday, said, “I play this girl staying in a motel in the middle of nowhere. Very mysterious.”
Cusack is the hitman hired by a notorious mob boss (De Niro) to retrieve a bag — with clear instructions he shouldn’t look inside — from the hotel.
“Everyone wants the bag. He doesn’t know what’s inside. The big question that lingers in the air is, ‘Does she know?’ ” said Da Costa, whose first big break was playing a girl getting hit on in a nightclub in “Entourage.”
Da Costa also stars later this year with Milo Ventimiglia and Andie MacDowell in “Breaking at the Edge,” as a bipolar pregnant woman who fears for her unborn child’s life.
“When I was shooting it, it was very intense,” Da Costa said. “I was literally getting crazy.”
