Mama Mia! Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s mother, Matilda, says the kitchen staff at the governor’s mansion “couldn’t cut it” this Thanksgiving when they tried to follow her stuffing recipe. The state’s former first lady, who presented HELP USA scholarships to domestic violence survivors at the Pierre Hotel on Monday, told us Andrew whispered in her ear at dinner, “Mom, this is awful.” Matilda, who’s been tough on Sandra Lee’s cottage cheese and tomato soup lasagna, seemed to have compassion for her balancing act as Food Network star and first girlfriend. “It’s a lot of pressure being in the spotlight,” Matilda said of Lee, who flew to Albany for the holiday meal after two magazine shoots. Not backing down from her culinary critique, Matilda said her only advice for Lee was, “I did give her a recipe for sausage lasagna.” Matilda joined Katie Couric, Ann Curry, Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Bloomingdale’s honcho Michael Gould, ABC’s Deborah Roberts and Sen. Kirsten
Gillibrand to honor Cindi Leive, Jones Group CEO Richard Dickson and Tonya Lewis Lee for their work to raise awareness and combat domestic violence.
