After Kate Upton was unceremoniously bumped from the cover of Vogue’s April issue in favor of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s controversial shoot, the writer of the Upton feature has taken a swipe at Anna Wintour’s fashion bible for not notifying him.

“After getting bumped from the cover of April Vogue for Kimye and finding out only once it hit newsstands, I think I have earned the right to post this little bit of frothy praise,” cracked Jonathan Van Meter on Facebook.

The writer — who’s penned high-profile Vogue profiles on Lindsey Vonn, Lady Gaga, Oprah Winfrey and Gwen Stefani, among others — then posted a review of the Vogue issue by the blog Magazine Review, which enthused, “While the article that goes with the [Kardashian-West] cover story is entertaining, the jewel of this [issue] is undoubtedly ‘Follow Me’ by Jonathan Van Meter, photographed by Mario Testino.”

Van Meter summed up, “So there.”

A commenter agreed, adding, “Awesome! The true talent is recognized!”
