Anne Hathaway brought the house down at Lincoln Center’s American Songbook Gala on Monday night to honor CAA super-agent Bryan Lourd — but the tune she chose irked some traditionalists.

While other performers — including Kristin Chenoweth, Allison Williams, Sarah Jessica Parker and Alan Cumming — sang tunes by Rodgers and Hammerstein and Stephen Sondheim, Hathaway appeared on stage and announced, “I’m from Brooklyn,” before breaking into “New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down,” by hipster rockers LCD Soundsystem.

Hathaway had been advised not to croon the tune, but the risk paid off with guests such as Daniel Craig, David Geffen, Ron Meyer, Barry Diller, Madonna, Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth Paltrow.

“Allison did a nice job on ‘Some Enchanted Evening,’ ” said a spy. “Then, Anne took the stage and told Allison she hadn’t taken her bow. Anne then took the mike and buried Allison’s performance, arms extended — the works. She showed what a real diva bitch can do with a song.”
