An ad for a new Showtime doc was initially rejected by the New York Times because its title made brass at the Grey Lady blush.

Jerry Seinfeld came up with the name of the film, “Quality Balls: The David Steinberg Story,” as a description of comic and “Inside Comedy” host Steinberg’s sense of humor.

But the Times thought the title was too racy to print when an ad was submitted.

“What about when they print Pussy Riot?” cracked a source.

Ultimately the ad was approved for the film, which features Seinfeld and Larry David.
