‘New Moon’ helmer bites back

Hollywood won’t have “New Moon” director Chris Weitz to kick around much longer. Stung by his treatment by the studios, Weitz says he plans to make only one more movie, The Post’s V.A. Musetto reports. “Every time I make a movie, I’m pretty much convinced it’s the last time . . . and that it’s really a rather silly occupation to undertake,” Weitz says in an interview with MovieMaker magazine.

The director’s disillusionment can be traced to his experience with “The Golden Compass” in 2007: “I wanted that to be my masterpiece. Unfortunately, the edit was taken from me and whatever chance I had at [a masterpiece] was also taken from me, which is kind of sad.”
