Humility paid off for Michael’s owner Michael McCarty and his wife, artist Kim McCarty. The couple was supposed to sit in the front row of the Coalition of the Homeless’ ArtWalk NY auction on Tuesday night at the SkyLight Studios in TriBeCa, but they took a seat in the middle of the pack because Kim had a watercolor up for auction and didn’t want to be front and center for the bidding. “I hope it sells,” she was overheard telling her husband. It did, to co-chair Alec Baldwin for $35,000 — more than twice the expected asking price. Also in attendance were Narciso Rodriguez, Patrick McMullan, Hervé Léger and publicist Bettina Prentice.
